ferry to lokrum
Took the ferry this morning to the pedestrian only lokrum island. It is a national forest reserve and there was an old abby, fort and other ruins on the island. Walked the island, took about 2 hours and then had lunch with some of the wild peacocks :)
lunchtime companions on lokrum
Lokrum island is populated with wild peacocks. While having lunch today, 2 males and two female peacocks joined me. I have never been that close to a peacock before.

dubrovnik cable car and war museum
Rode the cable car today to the top of a hill overlooking dubrovnik where the fort that was a symbol of independence in the war is. It was really a contrast to see images of Dubrovnik during the war in the 90's compared to what it is now. The evidence was definitely there in the part of the fort destroyed by warfare.

dubrovnik, old city
Toured the old city today, about a 15min walk from hotel. Walked the old city wall and the visited the Franciscan monastery and the church. Also visited the oldest working pharmacy in Europe within the monastery (for my lost voice!) which was so pretty it looked like a chocolate shop. This town is so stunning. I couldn't stop taking pictures as everywhere I looked there was a beautiful sight. Truly awe inspiring. These are pics from the fortifications.

view from hotel in dubrovnik
I can see the old city and the isle of lokrum from my balcony. The sun is shinning and my room juts over the crashing waves. I might not leave :)
