quote of the day

the people on this boat are a mix bag.

The lunch today included calamari, and overheard at the table next to me "they called this onion ring calamari, but that isn't a real thing - just a Hungarian word for onion ring"

... classic

  1. And I thought you'd be dining on gulyasuppe and wiener schnitzel! Don't see any snow in the photos, so that is a big improvement over the last time. Hope the clouds lighten up for you. When do you leave Budapest?

  2. Hi mom,

Yes, no snow is a definite improvement!!! It has been chilly here in the mornings but warm at about 60 degrees in the afternoon. Last night we set sail and are arriving in the Slovakia capitol of Bratislava this afternoon. It had been an interesting trip so far and a nice way to get a taste of the area. Speaking of taste, I wasn't aware how famous Hungary cuisine is for their use of paprika. They have two types, a sweet paprika used in dishes like cream sauces, goulashes, etc and then a more spicy paprika. It makes everything red, but very interesting tastes.

    Lots of love,

    xoxo
