st emillion catacomb tour
Went on a tour of the cave where st Emillion lived, the limestone catacombs and church carved out of limestone. What was interesting was how much I was reminded of Cappadoccia while touring. Then the guide said that the patron of both catacombs and church was on the first crusade in Turkey and that this influenced the decision to carve the church out in the caves. It was amazing how similar they were, the altar was even placed in the opposite direction, like in Cappadoccia and there was a carving of St George. Couldn't take pictures because of the cave drawings and paintings on limestone. Pictured is the outside of the cathedral.
